I thought there were a lot of people on stage when I saw Broken Social Scene at Mercury years ago. The Ambitious Orchestra definitely blew that out of the water. Totally unique.
As DUB prepared to take the stage I heard someone behind me say "This is gonna be weird." Despite some instrument malfunctioning and one yellow maracas down, DUB won over the crowd with their energy.
I was on MDR's guest list so I figured I had to stick around to watch them. Unfortunately everyone goes out of town for the Fourth of July so it was basically a single file of people along the outskirts of the room and me up front, center with a ten foot radius of space around me. They were good sports about it and the drummer was fantastic.
Fan-Tan. Chick asian bassist. Yes.
