Journal Excerpt from December 9, 2008......
Lord, you are BEAUTIFUL, and I cannot sharpen my words enough to express my desire to be a part of that constant and everywhere truth. Please help me to discover who You made me to be.
Psalm 127:1
Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builder is wasted.
Lord, purify my heart; establish the work of my hands. You are the only foundation I want.
Psalm 127:2
It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to His loved ones.
Lord, You know that I am guilty of harboring this very anxiety. I am so doubtful that I can provide for a family, and yet You do indeed give rest to Your loved ones, and I do know full well that You love me. Please deal tenderly with this untrusting son. Forgive me. Help me, I pray.
Psalm 127:3-5
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warriors hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!
Father, the idea of a family is so frightening to me. You know this, and You know it has always been so. I confess my fear is distrust. It is sin to me. And yet here I sit this morning; afraid. My God, I pray for a miracle of providence! I believe Your promises, and yet this road makes me feel a hypocrite!
Psalm 128
How joyful are those who fear the Lord - all who follow His ways! You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be! Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine, flourishing within your home. Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees as they sit around your table. That is the Lord's blessing for those who fear Him. May the Lord continually bless you from Zion. May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live. May you live to enjoy your grandchildren. May Israel know peace!
