Tonight, all across the United States, there will be peals of thunder and lovely eruptions of radiance in the sky as America celebrates her national independence. As a boy, this was always an understandable highlight of my summer, however, pyrotechnics and skyfire aside, what I enjoyed the most was not the explosions but the delicious apprehension and sweet suspense implicit in so many people around me looking forward to the exact same thing.
This prayer card speaks to the inherent reality of that shared anticipation in us all. There is a deep and spiritual hunger within you and I that is constantly crying out to experience something collective and eternal, and the beautiful truth of Jesus is that this experience is no longer limited to the confines of "once a year."
Lord, Your raw power and glorious presence is completely available to all of us, and not only everywhere, but always. My God, you have given us so many reasons to celebrate; today, I celebrate my freedom to worship You.
